A Modern Osteria

Above The Curator Cafe, almost hidden, The Curator Kitchen, a modern osteria, opened in March 2015.  

Osteria is from the Latin word meaning a place where you ‘host’ and you welcome people.  An osteria in Italy was originally a place serving wine and simple food. Lately, the emphasis has shifted to the food, but menus tend to be short, with an emphasis on local specialities such as pasta, grilled meat or fish, and often served at shared tables.

Our modern focus emphasises sourcing; the quality of the ingredients, the sustainability of the products and creating new plates with an understanding of traditions.  Our menu changes weekly and reflects the seasons of local South Devon produce as well as including Italian Food Heroes specialties direct from the producers. 

Our wines are mostly imported directly from Italy by us with the majority being unique to The Curator Kitchen.  We always try to seek out small wineries making natural and organic wines.
